If you have ever had any type of golf instruction you have been taught about your golf swing release. Depending on where you go, and what type of instruction you receive, you will learn different things about your golf swing release, and some of those messages can be quite conflicting. So how do you know what the right method is?
Ultimately, the decision for your golf swing release has to be made by you. If you have a great swing release, and your stroke is doing well, then there is no need to change it. One theory regarding the swing release is that the proper release occurs just as the contact is made with the ball. The rotational release is when the golfer rotates his or her forearms counterclockwise through the impact area. The tip of the club should be pointing up towards the sky at the end of the stroke.
Another theory is the non-rotational release. In this theory, the club face travels square to the target ball for a longer time. Using this golf swing release causes less strain and stress on the golfer which of course is a benefit in the long term. The best advice is to try different releases until you see what works the best for you.
